Why do I need to visit the dentist at least twice a year?
Regular checkups are important because, even if you are not experiencing any pain or problems with your teeth, there may be potential problems developing. It is best to catch things when they are small. A good example of the importance of early detection is the fact that decay starts as demineralization and can be treated without fillings. Another example relates to gum disease, which can be painless. In the early stages gum disease is reversible, but if left untreated can result in irreversible bone and tooth loss. At your hygiene appointment, we will clean away plaque and tartar from your teeth. We will also teach you the best techniques to use at home to maintain your oral hygiene.

Will you care for my entire family?
Absolutely. We enjoy creating healthy smiles for patients of any age. As a general dentist office, our preventive, restorative, prosthetic, and cosmetic dental services include treatments suitable for patients of all ages. Some patients may need additional care by dental specialists, in which case we will work closely with our trusted colleagues to provide ideal comprehensive care.

When do you like children to have a first dental visit?
Our office regularly cares for the dental needs of children as young as three years old. However, we suggest that you schedule an appointment when your child is about two years old, so that he or she may become familiar with the sights, sounds, and friendly helpers in our dental office. We often refer to this as a “Happy Visit” exam, where we will discuss any questions and review proper oral hygiene techniques with the parent. The next visit will be your child's independent checkup, including a tooth-by-tooth inspection and teeth cleaning.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?
YES! Bleeding indicates inflammation. When gums bleed, the cause usually stems from early-stage gum disease, called gingivitis. We will consult with you on the proper toothbrushing and flossing techniques for safe, effective daily oral care. If your gums show signs of gum disease, we may recommend an additional hygiene treatment and/or more frequent hygiene recall appointments to stop the disease from progressing and return your gums to good health. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults, and it has been linked to many overall health conditions, including stroke, heart attack, and respiratory problems. Untreated, gum disease can escalate to create significant damage to your health, so call for an assessment now. We will help you keep your teeth and gums healthy for life!

I brush every day, but my breath just is not fresh. Is there anything I can do?
At your checkup, we can look for the cause of your bad breath, also known as halitosis. Some patients suffer from bad breath due to tooth decay, gum disease, or bacteria on your tongue or tonsils. With modern procedures and products to promote fresh breath, our team can help you regain your confidence!

Insurance is confusing. Can you help?
We understand that dental insurance is confusing, but we make every effort to help you interact with your insurance company and human resources department. Please bring your insurance information to our office, or call to speak with our friendly insurance coordinator. Remember that we are experts at providing dental care for you and this is our primary purpose. Our relationship is with you, not your insurance company. We file your claim as a courtesy to you. Ultimately, you are responsible for payment for any services provided. We do our best to ESTIMATE what your insurance benefit will be, but with thousands of insurance plans changing yearly, we do not always know what insurance benefit you will receive.
